McClure Suffolks is a family owned and operated purebred Suffolk sheep farm located in Roanoke, IL. Over the years, the sheep industry has had many phases and trends, but no matter where the industry was at, raising consistent, complete, stylish Suffolk's has been the goal for us.
In 1976, Jeff started in the sheep business with the purchase of 4 brood ewes and a Revolution son. Revolution was the 1973 National Champion Ram for Heggemeier's. Through the 1980's and 1990's, we showed and raised breeding sheep and wether sheep. We enjoyed a lot of success during those years. In fact, from 1988 through 1991, we had our own club lamb sale.
We then dispersed the wether ewe flock once we felt that the wether-type sheep that were winning, were getting too small. This allowed us to concentrate on breeding large, complete, stylish Suffolks.
Over the years, our ewe base has been our top priority. We have maintained a closed flock for many years. Currently, we run about 20 ewes. Give us a call for your next stud ram, brood ewe, or show prospect.
